367887 2005-06-29 06:05:00 I dont mean to back seat moderate, but was using caps lock really nessercery? You normally dont get as many answers if you have all the letters in caps.

Could you please provide more information on your system as well?

367888 2005-06-29 07:14:00 Why did you do a system restore, what was the problem? How far back in time did you go with system restore? Is your operating system Windows XP or Windows ME? What sort of microphone is this and how/what are you plugging it into?

And as already suggested, please do not use all CAPITALS in your post as this is considered shouting.

Oh, and Welcome to PressF1 :)

367889 2005-06-30 04:28:00 It's because i downloaded something and i think it was a virus. I did the system restore like a week ago because evertime i logged in it froze on me thats why i did it. My operating system is Windows XP and the microphone im usen is a Labtec microphone. im plugging it into the pink mic plug i dont know what its called sorry. SHYONE (8435)
367890 2005-06-30 11:27:00 Just in case you haven't tried already, double click the little speaker next to the clock, bottom right corner. Click Options, then properties, select recording (not playback) and ensure that the microphone has a tick in the check box.

367893 2005-07-01 03:04:00 Some microphones require software that comes with them to be installed before they will work eg. the microphone on a logitech webcam
Is yours a webcam or a stand alone microphone?
If you did a system restore it may (probably) have removed the program your microphone uses and uninstalled the drivers
Try reinstalling the program if it had one

If you updated the sound card or MOBO drivers prior to restoring these may be lost as well
Go into the Device Manager section of System properties and see if there are any yellow exclaimation marks or red crosses indicating a problem or a disabled piece of hardware
