367898 2005-06-29 04:28:00 I purchased a TV tuner card so that I can transfer home video to DVD. The TV tuner picks up one ch very fizzy. I brought a generic BT878A Chipset, PCI Internal, with FM Radio that in retrospect probably was a little cheap of me.

Is there any suggestions on a good quality card that actually picks up channels via RF.

Cheers,

Casper

P.S. Bundled software "showshifter" I have found to be hopeless!

Without an appropriate external antenna, none are...

Do you mean that computers can't override the reality of electromagnetic propagation with lots of BS? :badpc:

I am using a good external source. Is it possibly the software?

Could just be that the software is not tuned properly(one of the programes i use refuses to tune TV1 but the others do it fine)
so try tuning it if not find some better software(i use windvr3 Its not free but its quite good)

367903 2005-06-30 03:54:00 There's heaps of driver updates for bt8x8 chipsets from the Pixelview sites, have you got the latest? Chilling_Silence (9)
367904 2005-06-30 22:04:00 I found these drivers to be far superior for the bt8x8 chipsets than any others:
www.iulabs.com
I have not used my crappy bt848 for a couple of years, and I believe there was a sourceforge project to write new drivers from scratch. Those might be better now.
You could always turn in a VCR and use the A/V out from it to go to the A/V In on the capture card.

367905 2005-07-29 03:53:00 I have a pixelview playtv pro pv878p+ rev.9x card and can't get the BTWincap drivers to work for it. Has anyone else had any joy with this card and these drivers? stevesumner (4849)
367906 2005-07-29 06:16:00 Why do you specifically need driver XYZ stevesumner? Why not try some from a different site, or the ones from the DSE.co.nz website? Chilling_Silence (9)
367907 2005-08-15 06:53:00 I read in a few other forums that the BTWincap drivers were the best. stevesumner (4849)
