367786 2005-06-29 02:11:00 Hi

I use a DLINK DSL-G604T ASDL router to run a network with 2 computers. Both computers can browse the internet via the router but I cannot share any resources on the network as name resolution is not working. I can ping both computers by ip address but not host name. The host names seem to be defined in the router but cnnot get them to work on the network.

Any ideas?

367787 2005-06-29 02:57:00 Have you shared any drives or folder on the computers? Have you set perissions for the shares?

Right click a drive/folder, click Sharing (wording may depend on OS version?), click Share this ..... , then set your permissions. Depending on who you want to do the sharing (Admin only, Everyone, specific users), put the user name and password in the resulting dialogue boxes. I use the same username and password on both machines (for sharing purposes only, not login) to keep it simple.
