| 367686 | 2005-06-28 09:36:00 | I'm trying to recover files from a USB 2.0 256MB... Microspot. I've tried PC Inspector (free, but no joy). When I try to read or open the drive, I'm asked if I want to format it. It has previously been used on O/S 8 OR 9 and X. I thought lets just do a quick format and then try to recover using the same prog. But XPs format software tells me that the disk is write protected, even though it is not. Any thoughts or pearls? You would be best to mount it on a Mac and read (not recover ;) ) the files. Then you ought to be able to get the Mac to format it as a MS one, then write to it as a MS device. If you planning on transferring files this way you'll find it easiest to keep the media in MS format (FAT type, not NTFS). | Graham L (2) | ||
