367943 2005-06-29 07:51:00 I am making up a PC out of spare PC parts (3GB hard drive/P3 550MHz CPU/ancient CD-Rom Drive etc ...) that I have and I intend nailing/screwing/glueing all of the components to a piece of wood and either hanging it off the wall or from the ceiling!
I have everything working but don't know how to replicate the power on/off switch and the reset switch that you would normally have on the case front.

Any ideas or suggestions???

367944 2005-06-29 07:55:00 errrrrr.........if it's an atx then they're not really on/off SWITCHES as such theyr'e really just a quick 'contact' and dont 'stay' on or off......... drcspy (146)
367945 2005-06-29 07:56:00 Just get a push button on/off switch, drill a little hole in the wood and connect it to the power pins on the mobo. Likewise for the reset. Speedy Gonzales (78)
367946 2005-06-29 07:59:00 You mean cut them off the front of an old case?
I was thinking of doing that but was wandering if there were any more ingenious ideas/solutions ...

367947 2005-06-29 08:23:00 No just buy a few flick switch things ones u dont have to use solder on.

Ones that let u screw wires onto.

It is possible that a picture will not happen. If the house burns down that is.

367950 2005-06-29 10:10:00 Or you could get small push on/off or momentary contact push switches from Dick smith for a few dollars.

What about this home made portable laptop made by one of the Porritts a few years ago, when laptops were quite expensive, even in Canada.
