367599 2005-06-28 03:33:00 I have Ulead but at present am still learning in Windows Movie Maker. I've transferred 7 minutes of video from my digital cam corder and saved it as a film clip using MM.

This means it is saved in Windows Media Format according to "Help".

Can I burn this clip to CD and expect it to play in a DVD player?

367601 2005-06-28 04:18:00 GF you must be an engineer. Advise which is succinct, accurate, timely - and no help at all. :D Winston001 (3612)
367602 2005-06-28 04:23:00 Your question was "Can I burn this clip to CD and expect it to play in a DVD player?"

The answer can only therefore be Yes or No. In this case "No"

Its not as if you asked "What do I need to do to be able to play it on my DVD player"...

But to be fair, we don't know what type of DVD player you have so the answer should be weighted accordingly, as "perhaps No"

You could re-encode the clip into DVD format then maybe it will play in your DVD player. It will depend on the format ( - + ) of the writer and which format your DVD player will handle.

Ah yes but I've come to depend upon the perispicacious and intuitive talents of the wonderful people who lurk here. Implicit in my humble enquiry was the question -

"If not, then what should I do?"

I'm burning to CD, not DVD. And the silver oblong sitting on top of my TV is a Technics device. ;)

367606 2005-06-28 05:48:00 Use Nero, and create a "VCD".

Drag the movie file to the nero window, if it can handle it then it will convert it to an mpeg file and burn it as a VCD

If it cannot handle it, it will tell you. Very clearly.

Never tried it with that format. Be brave.

Is that a bit like sucking it up? Only I always seem to put my back out when I try that . :waughh:

Anyway, Nero has found the clip but only talks about JPEG, pcx, png, tif, and bmp when I tried the configure button . Don't worry, I'll try Help . What fun!
