| 367339 | 2005-06-27 11:42:00 | Hi guys, My friend has a network at their house, and the one that is connected to the net is a Windows XP one, outside the house. This machine provides internet for the network, via dialup, and when other XP machines are connected to it, they can control the connection, by turning it on, or turning it off. However my friends computer has Windows 2000 on it, and it does not automatically pick this up. Is there any registry setting that needs to be changed? Can I take a file from an XP install and put it into Windows 2000? Cheers Robert |

| 367343 | 2005-07-07 01:47:00 | I don't. :D A slightly convoluted way which will work is to put a (free) VNC server on the XP box, and a VNC client on the W2k box. I sometimes shut down my W2k desktop from a W2k laptop by clicking on the desktops "Start" , and selecting Shutdown... That requires a VNC connection to be made, but that's pretty quick. |
