| 368558 | 2005-07-01 16:48:00 | I was recently infected with a virus on my Winxp Home machine and manange to clean it up after a couple of hours work. After doing so, my scheduled tasks now run in the background. I can no longer reply to jobs when they are completed. I checked the box in Services/Task Scheduler/Properties/Log On/Allow service to interact with desktop. Nothing appears to work. The scheduled jobs run find but I really need them to run in interactive or foreground mode. Thanks. Victor |

This runs the windows file checker and will ask for your install cd if it finds something wrong. Here are some articles on task Scheduler which may help. | 368562 | 2005-07-06 13:40:00 | I've tried that several times. Its like the task are running under a different user when there is only one user id on the machine. Like I mentioned before, the tasks such as Spybot and system backup run ok but you can't interatct or reply if one is needed. All other XP and 2000 machines run the same jobs with no problems. This is a strange one. Thanks for the help. Victor |

| 368563 | 2005-07-07 01:51:00 | "there is only one user ID on the machine" ... I doubt that. ;) Isn't there an "Owner" account (with no password :( ) whichj is the "Administrator" account for XP Home. These scheduled tasks probably "belong" to that account, not to a "user". That would explain why you can't see them as a "user". |

| 368564 | 2005-07-07 13:51:00 | That is correct. There is the phantom Administrator accout in XP Home that can only be used in safe mode. Now, if the tasks are now running under Administrator, how do I get them back to the user account which also has Administrator privilges? By the way, I was thinking about the same posibility when this nightmare started. Thanks....Victor | VictorJr (8459) | ||
