368364 2005-07-01 10:46:00 AVG is a very capable free AV programme. If your thinking of getting the benefits of a paid AV (not all are worth the price), I'd recommend Nod32.

I have AVG on the family computer and Nod on the business one. Have used Nortons, PCcillin, Avast and, looked at a few others.

368365 2005-07-01 14:25:00 If viruses are being found with each scan then they will have to be removed manually, either because they are running in memory and the virus program can't turn them off for deletion,they are in an archive (AVG for example will flag files in ZIP's,but isn't able to delete the file from within the archive, so it will be redflagged everytime).

Bigger jobs will mean editing the registry and startup programs,combimed with repeat scans of the system and manual removel of files.

Programs like moveonboot are ya best freind when it comes to regenerating viruses or memory resident infections.

Keep in mind that you can right click an teh AVG results and select "take me to file", sometimes you can delete the file pnce you have identified it with no drama,even though AVG was unable to do anything apart from red flag it.
