368911 2005-07-03 06:45:00 On XP the twin monitor ikon comes on in the task bar on both ADSL and Dial-up.

With ME the ikon only comes on with Dial-up.
On broadband there is no indication that it is on line. This can be very frustrating.

Also with XP you can enable/disable the connection by clicking on the Ikon.
With ME a restart is usually required, and then you still have no indication until you try the Browser etc.

Is there a way of creating an online Ikon for ADSL on the Windows ME task Bar?

368912 2005-07-03 06:49:00 Are you connecting to the ADSL modem/router on the ME machine using ethernet or USB? If you call up your router web admin page there should be the online status displayed. Jen (38)

I cant access the Router if it is disabled. Have to save everything & restart.
I don't know if it is disabled until I try to use it.
With XP I just right click the Ikon and select 'enable' or 'disable'

368915 2005-07-04 04:21:00 If you have onboard networking or a NIC, then you should be always online unless you turn off your router. Are you saying that under WinME the NIC disables itself? What happens if you go to Control Panel > Networking > device name and re-enable the ethernet connection? Or does your router require you clicking on a logon icon to make the connection? What modem/router model do you have? Jen (38)
