beetleI just viewed stuff . co . nz with Firefox that has absolutely no plugins and it worked fine for that site . It must detect non-flash capable browsers and serves up the flash content using standard methods instead . So I don't think Flash is behind your problem .

I think it would be worthwhile creating a brand new profile (this won't have any customisations/extensions/themes etc) and see if the problem still occurs when you view that site .

Instructions are here ( . mozilla . org/support/firefox/profile#new" target="_blank">www . mozilla . org) .

Firstly, make sure Firefox is completely closed (copy instructions to notepad first for reference) . Then follow all the intructions on how to create a new profile (call it Testing) . At the end launch Firefox and you should be presented with an option to pick which profile to use . Select the Testing one . Now visit stuff . co . nz and see what happens .

You can get rid of this new profile afterwards by re-running the profile manager command from Run and then deleting the new profile .

369827 2005-07-06 08:28:00 Ok, done and the bland boring version works just fine and stuff was fine, changed pages and nothing happens. so its an extension or a setting i have then???

should i get rid of the other one yet?

or do i need to use this as the guinea pig a bit further...?

369828 2005-07-06 09:02:00 You have two choices. Either remove all your extensions from your original profile, and then add them back one at a time - testing initially and inbetween each addition. Or, use your new profile to add one at a time each extension you have in your original profile, again testing between each. Hopefully this will identify the culprit. Jen (38)
369829 2005-07-08 01:36:00 How did you get on beetle with removing your extensions? I'm guessing that it didn't work because of your statement here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) last night saying Firefox was crashing for no reason after we had achieved a working new profile earlier in the day? Is this the same issue, or a different one? It is best you give us all the problems otherwise it makes it hard to problem solve the issue when we don't have the full story. :) Jen (38)
369830 2005-07-08 03:30:00 Removing the extensions made no difference - Firefox is still crashing on Beetle . Not sure about the new profile but I think that is the same .

Beetle said to me last night that the previous version of Firefox also crashed (she is currently running the latest version) even after a complete uninstall, cleanout and reinstall so it is quite a mystery as to why it is happening .

Last night Firefox had a major crash after Beetle clicked on a couple of links I sent her that have never given me any grief . For some strange reason she didn't talk to me again after that . :p :D

I personally suspect that one of the extensions installed on the previous version is the culprit and my recommendation is yet another complete uninstall and total clear out of the profiles, folders, etc everywhere before reinstalling the latest version again without any extensions added . :stare:

369831 2005-07-09 03:18:00 Well so far today been online about 20 mins and it hasnt crashed????????

i ended up deleting the test profile as it didnt make much deference.

OE crashed today as well, so im not sure what is playing havoc with peach.

Thinking about getting rid of FF..... :illogical or trying something else for a while.

And yes i got rid of extensions and didnt make any difference either....

So will see how it goes today and make a decsion later.
