369780 2005-07-06 00:25:00 Sure, I just built this, Asus 64bit mobo, AMD3000, Gigabyte6600GT, 1Gb Ram.

Only thing it crashes about 3 times a day, it's like having 98 over again.

Hopefully I have pinned it down to the NOS overclocker, have switched it off in the BIOS, but wee will see.

369781 2005-07-06 00:38:00 Hmmm, Ok, Cancel that then, Mine is near the exact specs and never crashes :D , and no one is getting their mitts on my Laptop...

Anyhow, Back to Opera.

Whats it been....hmmmmm......10 minutes?.....And I am pretty sure that I won't use Firefox again.

All I need to do is find the home button, and configure it to run through Proximiton so I don't have to be sugjected to adds, moving text and embedded audio...(prople that stick midi files into webpages deserve to be hung, drawn and quarted...

369786 2005-07-06 02:09:00 I have just installed Opera 8.01 & find that there is a file "Netscape.exe" in the Opera/Program folder.
It doesn't seem to do anything if you double click it.
Any idea what its for?

From the Opera forums: (my.opera.com)

It's so that you can automatically use Netscape plugins with Opera - a lot of plugins look for where Netscape.exe is to automatically install these plugins. The fake Netscape.exe fools these installers into adding them to Opera too.

Cripes, you know me too well . I have a witness who can confirm that that is exactly what happened . :p

So . . . three new Opera converts in one day? Things are looking good . :D

Just to keep you guys hooked I'll throw in a few neat little tricks that Firefox can't do .

1 . For your bookmarks, either go to a bookmark's properties or on a page go Ctrl+T and in the Nicknames field type in a name, eg PF1 . When you want to go to that bookmark use Shift+F2,start typing the nickname and you are there .

2 . Use F4 to toggle the Panel where your bookmarks, etc etc are shown .

3 . Use the numberpad numbers 1 and 2 to move through your open tabs OR hold down the right mouse button and use the scroll wheel .

4 . For your saved passwords either use the Wand on the toolbar to bring up the list of accounts/passwords for that page or use Ctrl+Enter for the same .

There are tons more but learn those first then I will give you some more . ;)

369788 2005-07-06 03:09:00 Proximitorn stops the adds from displaying which is a bonus, Though the blank white toolbar is only slightly better. Metla (12)
369789 2005-07-06 04:14:00 You have got the Google ad bar enabled and not the other one, haven't you Metla? That takes up the least room.

By the way, Proxomitron is Opera's recommended substitute for Firefox's adblock extension.
