| 370392 | 2005-07-07 23:21:00 | I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this little problem . Ive got a Linux box up and running except for the HCF Win Modem . Fine I thought, for the meantime I would let the Linux Box have my External Modem and I would fit the HCF to my usual machine . No problem . Well actually there is . Although the Modem installs correctly and you can call it up from Control Panel Modem Diagnostics Com3 More Info, the Dial-Up connections (Xtra & Clear) wont work . Ive tried deleting and reinstalling the Dial-up Connections without success . Ive deleted all Modems from Control Panel Modems, and from Control Panel System, (including enumerator . Ive physically removed the modem and restarted computer and run Nortons Win-doctor in case there were any stray registry entries, re-installed the Modem and still no go . Theres no conflicts in Control Panel System Device Manager and everything is supposedly working properly . However, Programmes Accessories System Tools System Information Components Problem Devices reveals the following: IRQ Holder for PCI Steering PCI \ IRQHOLDER \ 03 error code 22 . Googleing would indicate that this error is not important and is the result of some hardware being removed . I wonder??? Anyone any ideas?? (P3 on ME) |

| 370396 | 2005-07-08 02:28:00 | Ok, Ill try again and see what happens. My thoughts at the moment are that something in the registry is pointing to the modem being on com 2 where the external one was. This beast is on com 3. Whilst I go through the whole rigmarole one more time has anyone any suggestions where to look in the registry for errant entries? |

| 370398 | 2005-07-08 02:35:00 | If it's using IRQ3 that indicates that it's "thinking" COM2 or COM4. COM1 and COM3 historically use IRQ4. This might not matter with a PCI device, but it's suspicious. :confused: | Graham L (2) | ||
