370358 2005-07-07 22:52:00 does anyone know how to transfer avi files from computer to a sony rdr-hx710 dvd recorder using firewire. What software would i use?. Computer picks up the dvd recorder as Sony DV Tape Recorder/Player but no option to paste to the unit. Do the files need to be rendered to mpeg first? mronhb (1100)
370359 2005-07-07 23:04:00 Nero/Nero Digital or most Ulead programs should, if they can reads avi files.

http://www.nero.com might do it if it supports this burner. It doesnt normally work, if u copy and paste to a blank dvd.

You need a program to convert it to dvd format before it'll play in an external dvd player.

http://www.cdburnerxp.se/ might work, as I think Nero digital needs a dvd plugin, which isn't free.

370360 2005-07-07 23:09:00 You want to stream avi media onto a standalone DVD recorder?

Seems like a big ask, I would be surprised if its possible but your best bet is to try here http://www.videohelp.com/

370362 2005-07-08 03:45:00 If you just want to store the avi make a data DVD with nero
If you want to play it on a dvd player use winavi to convert to dvd format

The user apears to be wanting to use a stand-alone dvd-player/recorder (as detailed in the link) as a dvd burning device for the computer .

If I am not mistaken the other posters in this thread haven't quite grasped that . . . . .
