370757 2005-07-09 11:22:00 a hidden folder called Zero G Registry has appeared in program files, containing an xml file of a similar name. I have never seen it before, so assume it is to do with 3dsmax, which ive just installed? any help on telling me what this thing is would be great! Kindel (6640)

Just a c/p and a question here.....

here is a quick c/p of some of the verbage on that page (zero g registry...etc...)

Zero G is the leading provider of software deployment and delivery solutions for multiple platforms and technologies, including Windows Installer and the Windows .NET Framework, Linux, UNIX, NetWare, z/OS, and Mac OS X.

Zero G's flagship product, InstallAnywhere, creates installers that meet the demands of diverse computing environments and dynamically adapt to the systems on which they are deployed. InstallAnywhere installs and configures applications for optimal performance and handles all installation details automatically, minimizing time-to-deployment and increasing developer productivity. Zero G's solutions are used by thousands of enterprise developers and commercial software vendors, including IBM, HP, Intel, Novell, Borland, and Sun Microsystems.

Zero G also partners with leading software developers, including IBM, HP, Novell, and Sun, to develop the next generation of software deployment and configuration solutions.

here is the question:

Do I read SPYWARE here written in legalese?

Technically? Maybe not. However I don't like anything that "automatically" installs stuff to my PC.

370761 2005-07-10 12:18:00 ive figured it out now, i think its asscoiated with the installer for 3dsmax. most installer/packaging apps like InstallShield dont place their stuff directly in c:/program files though, they put it in program files/common files. Kindel (6640)
370762 2005-12-01 19:20:00 This is apparently used by at least some other major products, as claimed by the publishers, including Embarcadero database modeling and maintenance tools. See reference at www.embarcadero.com in which tehy explain how to delete the xml file if you are manually uninstalling one of their products. gardoglee (8495)
370763 2006-06-24 21:16:00 It came with the software from a differantial equation book.
I think it is harmless.

Well...that's what they WANT you to think...right?

I mean, who ever downloads differential equations anyway? Huh?
