| 371453 | 2005-07-12 02:43:00 | Situation: I have a PC with an ancient 4GB hard disc on it. Now the hard disc has also got the most upto date WINDOWS XP installed on it. I will be looking at buying a 60GB hard disk. Question: 1. Can i transfer all information from one hard disc to the other? 2. I need to know if i can even transfer the operating system. 3. Will i be able to run the pc with the new hard disc? |

| 371454 | 2005-07-12 04:03:00 | What specs is your motherboard and processor etc? Some of the older motherboards IE 5 years + won't see a harddrive larger then 32GB without a bios upgrade. Otherwise you have no issues many of the drives will come with software on disk or website links to setup the new drive correctly. To transfer your existing drive onto the new one Norton's Ghost is one such program that comes to mind. Other options are to reinstall your operating system on to the new drive then copy or transfer the files you wish to keep over from the old drive. |
