371041 2005-07-10 12:55:00 I am searching for a NZ supplier of a plug for an Acer Travelmate,I need a plug that fits into the notebook to solder to a 12 volt to 19 volt power adapter I am making up,it needs to be 1.7mm inside diameter,5.3 outside diameter,12.1mm long to match the standard plug that is on the normal AC power lead.I would consider buying a whole lead to cut the plug off.
where would I buy such a thing,
cheers,
John.

371043 2005-07-10 21:59:00 The Acer New Zealand website is notoriusly unhelpful. According to it, my laptop (which I bought at DSE in NZ) does not even exist.

John - do any of those "Universal Laptop Power Supply" kits have the correct plug? They're around $60 though, which might be an issue.

Otherwise, it's always checking out Jaycar, DSe, and Surplustronics.

371044 2005-07-10 22:31:00 That sounds like a standard DC power plug. The 1.7mm pin could be made for a 2.1mm plug though.
Its the "long reach" version and has identical measurements outside to my Toshiba.

I have previously bought suitable plugs from DSE or Jaycar, have you tried these places?

371045 2005-07-11 09:45:00 Thank you for your replys,I have found some with a 2.1 mm inside and 5.5 outside but none with 1.7 inside,I found the plug size on a Aussie web site for power bricks and this model seems to need a smaller inside diameter plug, maybe I am being too fussy and it will work with a 2.1,
cheers,
John.
