I get this small box with
connecting...opening port info ...
not the usual Dial-up connection box...

I usually type in the pw when dialing up...

371001 2005-07-10 06:15:00 Try putting the right pw in under the dialup under the username. Speedy Gonzales (78)

371003 2005-07-10 06:27:00 The dialup icon in my network places (or if its on the desktop, if u created a shortcut).

Double click on it. I take it you're on dialup not on broadband?

What does it show then if it doesnt show the username/password?

If the username and password options dont appear here, then u have a prob

I would get hijackthis scan copy and paste a copy of the log here.

www.hijackthis.de

And let it analyse/show u what might be nasty.

Are you trying to dialup when ur online already? or trying to get another computer on the net, using LAN / on a network?

371005 2005-07-10 07:32:00 Generic comments since nobody has mentioned it.

XP does not show the password, just a series of dots.

The series of dots will not relate to the length of the password, its obfuscated.

So if you are assuming the password is changing based on the visual indication of the length of the password, its not the root cause as it is by design.

371006 2005-07-11 01:14:00 Thanks Guys,
Trying out the suggestions...
Godfather, the number of dots had changed hence my impression I'd been hijacked...
