371850 2005-07-13 10:15:00 I would like to be able to view and listen to real player content but I really do not want to install real player on to my system.

I have heard about Real Player alternatives that will allow you to listen/view real player encoded content in other media players such as winamp...

Does anyone know of any of these alternatives? or had expereince with them?

Thanks.
M.

371852 2005-07-13 10:28:00 winamp (htp://www.winamp.com) is excellent, make sure you download the full version so it has all the streaming stuff Prescott (11)
371853 2005-07-13 10:53:00 Ultraplayer is a useful alternative Greg (193)
371854 2005-07-13 12:56:00 If I read Mantis correctly, the question asks if there are any other players that will play RealPlayer's content?
That hasn't been answered so far - or is it just me?

Just to amplify in case of misunderstandings, Real Alternative through its Media Player Classic program in the download package, as linked above, will play Real Media files, that is, both audio and video files, and Real streaming audio/video.

In addition the Media Player Classic program will also replace Windows Media Player if so desired, which is not a bad thing if you dont like all the bells and whistles that M$ tries to load onto one.

Also at the same site is a Quicktime Alternative which also uses the Media Player classic program and Quicktime codecs.

371856 2005-07-13 21:41:00 Does the realplayer alternative not install the codecs? I've got the quicktime alternative installed & I hate media player classic, so I play my videos in wmp9 and my music in winamp. Greven (91)
