372215 2005-07-16 07:19:00 Who knows, try it and see, I ran mine off a no name 300w PSU for months, Granted it was only a matter of time till it failed but I removed it before it could, and is now ruuning off a no name 400w psu.

Rock solid.
Yes, until we get that promised lovely technical report on the reliable way to check out a cheap PSU the try it and see method seems to be it.

most definetly get a much bigger and better PSU. no point risking such nice hardware with a elcheapo psu.

372217 2005-07-16 10:19:00 Well I decided that if I'm going to buy the lastest graphics card and the lastest games I might as well buy a PSU that will give me the best chance of running them consistently.
I think my PSU cost around $300, easily the best investment considering ...well.... that it powers the whole machine.
Not much point in purchasing components worth up to 3 grand then skimpping on the case and PSU.

372218 2005-07-16 15:22:00 Its funny when people are so willing to spend so much money on:

Mb $280+=yeah I want a fully featured one
cpu $300+=something that goes fast
gpu $400+=Its got to play games real good man
sc $200=hey its for my music and games bro
hd $200+=its got to be big and fast
monitor $700+=look at that now
modem $160+=for the web silly
case $200+=its got to look good
keyboard/mouse $250 its got to be wireless

psu $200 what!! Thats way to much, what have you got thats cheaper?

A quality powersupply for your computer after spending so much on your computer why not?
