372625 2005-07-16 04:21:00 Hi guys

Need some help with my brother's computer. For a while he was happily running media player 9 then updated to media player 10 but it wouldn't work with 10. So he tried to roll back to media player 9 but kept getting roll back failure errors and any attempts at reinstalls of media player just failed. In the end I used used XPlite to remove media player from his system and used his Windows XP CD to make sure he had base line media player 6 installed which works fine. But when we tried to update from media player 6, we kept getting error messages saying his version of windows did not support the version updating to which is a crock as he has Windows XP and had happily been running higher versions of media player including 9 before this trouble started. Any ideas anyone? Format and reload not realy an option at this time due to capacity required for backup data.
System is an older 900Mhz AMD, 256MB SD-RAM, 16bit sound card (sorry, can't remember what exactly) with Windows XP Pro.

Cheers.

372626 2005-07-16 04:29:00 at the moment all i can suggest is remove media player and IE, then reinstall IE (which includes media player). also you could do a repair install of windows.

BTW how did you get mediaplayer 6 to install? didn't XP come with media player 8 ?
