372535 2005-07-16 03:46:00 Can anyone tell me the Self-Test procedure for this printer series as we have lost the manual and there is none available on-line. Symptoms of problem are that the printer appears to go through the printing motions but nothing is actually printed. Cartridges have been replaced, cable appears OK but will be checking with a replacement asap. Thanks. RoyG (7768)

But I don't like your chances. ;) If the OS can see the printer, and doesn't complain about it, everything must think that it's all OK. Is it a parallel port one? I forget. If so, make sure the BIOS has the port set for bidirectional/EPP/ECP; not "traditional ".

372537 2005-07-16 07:04:00 Yes, holding the button down will place it in a "test nozzle" function . Just make sure to hold it long enuff to get the message . A short push tells it that you just responded with the "out of paper" notice and have refilled the paper supply .

Is it actually feeding the paper though? I didn't notice that in your letter .

And one other thing . . . Canon printers are real jealous of being the ONLY printer available; you cannot use an "A - B" switch on them or timeshare the interrupts with another printer either .

Did you replace the printhead as well?
Have you got the high capacity black cartridge you could try in it?
It sounds like the printhead the 2 grey cartridges fit into is blocked.
