372451 2005-07-15 05:11:00 Just installed an adsl modem and hooked up to Xtra's broadband system and working ok. When I go to AVG to update virus protection up comes the old telephone connection panel which now is not working through the old built in modem. How do I reconfigure to tell AVG that I am now on broadband ? heaton (3697)
372452 2005-07-15 05:17:00 Did the same thing here . . . is the version you're using the free one?

Then it's simple . . uninstall and re-download a new copy . . that's what I hadda do .

It will not (seems to me anyway) forget that you used a dial up before and tries to default to it all the time .

BTW: now is the time to pull that old phone cord outta the modem . You might get a Chinese or Bulgarian Porno dialer running up your phone bill while you are on the DSL side of the connection . . . :D

Now you have got me worried . I thought firewalls prevented this .
I am using the pro version of AVG and cannot redownload it . I have sent an e-mail to AVG technical support and will see what happens . Now that the computer is always connected to the internet via the adsl modem is the security risk much higher ?
Maybe I am paranoid ???

To resolve problem open AVG control center.Right click on update manager- choose settings. Dial up tab.Untick "use dialup" apply.ok.
This solved my problem and must award 10 out of 10 for prompt service fro Grisoft. :
