| 372288 | 2005-07-15 01:06:00 | I have been give a job by my dads work to network 2 computers together The main computer has jetstream and uses a 4 port Netgear router I have both computers plugged into the router. The router recognises that the 2nd computer is plugged in but neither computer can ping each other, the 2nd computer can see the main computer but it cant access the files. When i ping from the 2nd computer i get Ping Error 65, if i ping from the Main computer just get request timed out. The windows firewall is disabled on both Local Area Connections and the Router/Firewall is setup to allow ingoing and outgoing everything within the network I hope this isnt too complicated |

| 372294 | 2005-07-15 04:01:00 | NETBIOS name? The only bit that mentions NETBIOS in my settings is set to default. Maybe you are talking about workgroups or the computer's name? They aren't listed in Win XP's network settings so I don't know how relevant they are to this version of Windows. The workgroups' name should be the same, however, and it might make a difference if they are not. |

| 372297 | 2005-07-15 04:23:00 | What device is the internet connection, is it internal on the first PC, does the router handle this, or is there an ADSL modem as well connected to the router? What is the IP address range? 10.1.1.* or 192.167.*.* Double check the sharing, the default shared folder is only PC wide, right click it and make sure it is shared on the network, the icon should have a hand holding from underneath. |
