General tab

Should the selection be:

Normal startup or

Selective startup with all items selected

Many thanks

373158 2005-07-18 10:55:00 Normal. If something is unticked under the startup tab, it'll be on selective. Speedy Gonzales (78)
373159 2005-07-18 11:06:00 No. Selective, with what you want. In my case, I untick things like Find Fast, Office Start up etc. You can always open things later.

373160 2005-07-18 11:11:00 You can delete those in the startup menu in start/all programs .

Then they wont run . Or use the tools/startup option in Ccleaner .

Highlight the entries and delete . Voila, they wont run on bootup .

373161 2005-07-18 13:17:00 Untick everything under Startup except your firewall and anti-virus, then leave it on Selective. Greg (193)
373162 2005-07-18 13:21:00 I must say, Im with Greg and Peter H on this one. I dont know of a single box I have more than "User" rights to that still has Normal Startup enabled, its just a waste.

Quicktime has an autoloader which I find annoying... little things like that.

Post a list of whats in there Chris and somebody will help you go through it and decide what you do/dont need

373165 2005-07-18 13:30:00 Spybot has a comprehensive (with explanations) startup editor,no need for 20 different tools. Metla (12)
373166 2005-07-18 13:35:00 If you are not sure of any programmes in your startup list, you can check them out at Sysinfo's Startup List (www.sysinfo.org) Myth (110)
