I am trying to setup network between 2 computers, one has windows XP PRO and the other has Win98SE. i am using a crossover cable and a ethernet 10/100 card. both have a same subnet mask & for the IP address last digit is different for exmpl 192.168.0.1 & the other is 192.168.0.2. i have shared C Drive on Win98 machine but i am not able to see that in my XP Pro.

Perhaps your firewall is enabled or is being over-sensitive, as mentioned in the FAQ?

There is a whole bunch of FAQs after FAQ#50 that have not yet been added. I am not holding my breath that they ever will be either, being such a low priority on the time and resource list. It would be good if the two most useful FAQs, the networking and linux ones, were added though.

Oh, and the graphics card one. ;)

373112 2005-07-18 23:47:00 I know this is off the topic, but still on the FAQ topic... I know I would like to see a basics in Linux. Also, under Windows, an update to include XP (espec in networking).
Maybe also a howto on how to use linux to boot Windows (or did I miss that one?)

373113 2005-07-18 23:55:00 The landscape has changed so much since I wrote the Video card faq( not that I ever finished it) that the entire article has become pretty much worthless,...though I might see if I can drag it up and perhaps give it a rewrite....

Maybe I should do an all encampassing hardware faq, I could never finish that one as well.......Muahahahahaha.

373114 2005-07-19 00:04:00 But the video card FAQ was always meant to be dynamic, Metla. You were going to update it every three weeks, remember? ;)

Shall I help you find it? :D

373115 2005-07-19 00:19:00 If you like, though I think there were at least 2 different versions posted....

Perhaps we can get a heads up from the Admins as to what's happening with the FAQ's that as yet aren't listed with the others...
