372991 2005-07-17 21:40:00 I have a Radeon 9800 pro graphics card.

What I want to know is, are the 3D settings supposed to do anything in games on a PC? They seem to make no difference to my picture when adjusted.

Are these settings just for TV and/or DVD?

372992 2005-07-17 22:00:00 Well you kind of answered your own question... the 3D functionality of a graphics card IS what makes todays games look better. They render the graphics in 3 dimensional format and add realism to the game by rendering things such as fire, smoke and the surrounding environment.

So to answer your question no it doesn't only apply to DVD and or TV only, a more powerful card would render a picture on a TV and help decode DVD video better than a less powerful card but having said that it also depends on the rest of your system, RAM, CPU hard disk space etc.

hope that helps a bit

cheers
