Since my reformat I have reinstalled everything including firefox 1.04 and thunderbird 1.0.

When I click on a link on a mail message nothing happens.
I would have expected firefox to open at the appropriate page. (This was never a problem before the format :( ).

I even updated to the latest thunderbird (1.05) but still the problem persists.

I looked through the options but could not find the answer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

372979 2005-07-17 16:58:00 I think I'd check my POP3 account first. Are you really running T-bird as your POP3 service?

As for Firefox, maybe just delete the whole thing and try to reinstall again. You might've gotten a corrupt packet in the download..huh? FF is pretty intuitive and since it's messed up, I would try that first.

Did you get the whole Mozilla Suite?

372980 2005-07-17 17:15:00 I'm not having any trouble sending or receiving e-mail, everything shows up fine. But if I want to check out a link on an e-mail, it does not open firefox so I would have to copy and paste (too much hard work :) ).

If no one else has any better ideas I might download firefox 1.05 and do a fresh install.

Cheers

372981 2005-07-17 17:37:00 What happens when you've already got FF open? And is it set up as your default browser? Greg (193)
372982 2005-07-18 00:53:00 firefox was open, and yes it is the default browser.

I'm looking at this on my uni computer, which I reinstalled about the same time. Used same disk of programs for both computers, and this one has no trouble opening webpages from thunderbird.

The only difference is the extensions I have installed in firefox, maybe one of them is causing the problem?

I'll have to try disabling them one by one when I get home I suppose to see if that fixes it :)

Disabled my extensions in firefox (no joy), uninstalled, ran crap cleaner then reinstalled (no joy).

Any other suggestions?

372984 2005-07-18 18:48:00 Ravage:

OK, I'm confused here and although it might be a constant thing with me, I am REALLY confused this time .

You say you use T-bird for opening and/or surfing the web? IMHO, T-bird is just a POP3 account, and not used for that purpose at all . . I MIGHT BE WRONG HERE . . so don't use too large of a stick on me . . .

Now, as to Firefox, It IS a browser, and I use it for that all the time . I use gmail for my POP3 as well as MSN Premium . I use Chatzilla and MSN Messenger (when it actually works that is) or Yahoo Chat for IM'ing .

So, as you can see, I am confused as to the purpose of T-bird for you . . . . .

It might be another of those NZ vs US language things, but I hope not . . this is pretty simple (I think!) :waughh:

(OK, I had a lot of time to color in and add highlights to this . . but I'm still bedridden and have a lot o' time to myself this morning!, and the doctor says to keep on taking the drugs . )

372985 2005-07-19 02:06:00 I didn't think I was being confusing but then, I get that all the time so perhaps I am not making myself clear :)

I use thunderbird (1.0.5) as my pop email client. Let's say someone sends me an email with a link embeded in the message eg:
Hey Ravage , check out this site they are really helpful :)

www.pressf1.co.nz

Now normally I could click this link on the email and it would open up firefox (even if it wasn't already open) and go to the site that was linked.

Currently, if I click the link (in thunderbird), It displays the information in the bar at the bottom ie http://www.pressf1.co.nz/

but does not open the broswer, or make any attempt to retrieve the page.

As I said earlier, I was running the same setup on two different computers, My uni computer is running win me, and does exactly what I want, ie opens up the weblinks in firefox, but my home computer running win xp home does not....

Home computer did what I want before the reformat, but I can't seem to find the problem now.

Any ideas?

Cheers
