372800 2005-07-16 12:19:00 I got home after using a web access service (via ethernet) in the Crowne Plaza hotel in christchurch and it seems to have modified something on my laptop such that I cannot access the ihug home page www.ihug.co.nz (being my home page)from the address bar ...my browser firefox tries to head to get.in2.net which was the service.
It hasn't altered the home page setting in the browser, I can get to www.ihug.co.nz/index, but I can't find out what has been altered.
Zone alarm with internet secturity was operating, clearing the cache has not worked.
No sign of spyware (scanned with Ad aware and Spybot)
Anyone with an idea on what has been altered

372802 2005-07-16 13:03:00 So I take it that you think it was the hotel that made a problem here?

"Poncy Hotel."

372803 2005-07-16 22:02:00 Well your best bet would be to check your internet settings...

I would start in your network connections settings, I'm assuming that you are using a broadband connection (Ethernet)

But also check to see in your ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS that there are no nasty or unknown programs installed.

cheers

Solved the problem by cleaning out all the temps and cookies
I went to another hotel in Queenstown that had the same provider for the in room bordband and it didn't happen there..must be something I've done to the firewall

372805 2006-01-28 01:23:00 I've had the same thing happen to me by merely visiting the Origin Pacific website.

I was looking at aerial maps on the LINZ website, which was open in the next tab.

I typed www.originpacific.co.nz in whatever was in the previous tab, and the Origin Pacific site loaded correctly.

The problem is that now everytime I try to go anything at www.linz.govt.nz, Firefox redirects to get.in2.net!

I have restarted the browser and the problem's still there. I'm going to try deleting cookies/temporary files now to see if that fixes things.
