1388278 2014-11-18 04:27:00 Do you have caller ID enabled on your phone line? CYaBro (73)
1388279 2014-11-18 22:44:00 Firstly your phone line needs to be interfacing with your PC, so you'll need a special type of card there, like the Digium TDM410P with an FXO module
Then you'll need a way of triggering that popup upon an incoming call.

What would be *easier* is if your line was a VoIP line with 2talk, and you simply had some software like ZoIPer Classic registered on your PC (Along with on another device such as a Cisco SPA112) and had the phones in the ZoIPer phone-book
Also, 2talk do a reverse whitepages lookup and send the CID information through along with the phone number, which helps for when unknown callers are ringing you too.

1388280 2014-11-19 01:14:00 not sure how they get away with this - but here's a reverse white pages lookup for more than 4 million kiwi's

I thought it was an offense under both the privacy and communications acts to build a publicly searchable database of reverse lookup phone numbers?

but here it is - and every number I have looked up has come back with name, address etc - including my own

did you check your number with the area code? - will only work with area code prefixing the number

1388283 2014-11-19 02:56:00 I'm not in there either. :D CYaBro (73)
1388284 2014-11-19 05:38:00 If you know the name, number and street name, you might as well use the White pages.
Works with just number.

1388285 2014-11-19 09:49:00 exactly - reverse lookup by phone number alone is what it does that I don't see how it can be legal under privacy laws bevy121 (117)
1388286 2014-11-19 10:05:00 interesting - just been looking at the white pages, and this statement is there....

Note: you cannot search for phone numbers (0800, landline or mobile) as this is against New Zealand Privacy Laws.
