1388197 2014-11-17 07:10:00 Hey there, was hoping someone could give me some advice on protecting my computer. I was surfing the web and must have caught a nasty virus because because the next day there was a few new programs that were on my computer that i don't recall installing and was unable to surf the web. I then system restored my computer to fix the problem. Any advice on helping me avoid this problem happening again would be much appreciated.

1388201 2014-11-17 08:43:00 Be careful installing free programs. Some are free for a reason. If you dont do a custom install they'll install adware

You can also use adwcleaner. (www.bleepingcomputer.com) Run it click on scan, wait for it to finish then click on clean. Wait for that to finish then reboot

And AVOID sites like filehippo.com, cnet.com, and download.com. All 3 can give you malware. If you download anything from them
