1388052 2014-11-13 03:24:00 I built an i5 computer with a 750 Watt Antec Power Supple and every other time I shut it down the monitor goes off and Windows shut down but the power supply, CPU fan, and Case fans are still going. It takes about a minute to shut off the monitor and OS but when I reboot and shut it off the 2nd time it takes about 5 seconds. It's the same when I image the OS. This first time my mouse freezes and the 2nd time is OK. I'm wondering why? lostsoul62 (16011)
1388053 2014-11-13 03:27:00 Update the BIOS. Did you install the chipset drivers? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1388054 2014-12-08 06:18:00 Hi lostsoul62, hope you're doing good despite the issues with your PC. Firstly, may I know if you've run the System File Checker tool to repair the missing or corrupted system files? If you haven't done so, do run the program to as corrupted system files can be the cause. Here is the link to guide you further on it:

support.microsoft.com

On top of that, if there is any program or device driver interferes with the Windows power settings then it can cause the PC shutdown issues. If after you check the above the problem still persist, then try performing the Windows troubleshooting steps at the below link and see how it goes for you. Here is the link for you (if you're using windows 7):

windows.microsoft.com

Furthermore, updating BIOS would also be recommended in solving the issue. Also, since the PSU is not powering off immediately, I would recommend you to check if the PSU cable and pins are connected to the MOBO (motherboard) properly. Alternately, running a full scan on your hard drive would also be helpful in identifying the cause of the issue. With that being said, if you're using an WD hard drive, then go ahead and run the Data Lifeguard Diagnostics test accordingly at the below link:

wdc.custhelp.com

If you're using Seagate hard drive, try using the SeaTools, here is the link:

www.seagate.com

Alternately, if you're using other brands, then you may want to try to run the HDD scan at the below link:

http://hddscan.com/

Also, run the MEMTEST on the RAM to check the state of it. Here is the link for you:

http://www.memtest86.com/

Do check it out and see how it goes for you. Hope it helps and good luck in solving the issue mate.

1388057 2014-12-11 01:15:00 Yes, don't forget to save a backup of your data before you start troubleshooting. I also think some of the files in your PC are corrupted. Is your PC new? ruellesmith (17277)
