1388036 2014-11-12 20:31:00 My Samsung 120GB 840EVO SSD is working great and 'Optimisation' is set to 'Maximum Performance' my Win8.1 shuts down real fast, almost instantly; everything seems to be great.

But, wait, Win8.1 's reliability report spits out a warning that 'Windows was not shut down properly'. I do shut down Windows accordingly, following every step. It took me quite a while to track down it's Samsung's SSD settings. When I change the Optimisation to Max Capacity or Reliability, that 'Windows not shut down properly' doesn't pop up.

Is this a Windows 8.1 issue or Samsung Magician's issue?

Anyone of you guys in this forum using Samsung's SSD with Win8.1 having the same or similar issue?

1388037 2014-11-13 01:35:00 If there's an event id: 41 error in event viewer, that can mean a faulty PSU. Thats if you didnt press the on/off button to turn it off

I've got the 250 GB but its fine in 8.1

1388038 2014-11-13 02:23:00 Can you really notice the difference if you set it to capacity or reliability all that much? if it get's rid of the problem I'd be tempted to just leave it on one of those.
Sounds like it's actually shutting off a little too fast and something is not quite finishing, maybe there's a way to add a slight delay somewhere?

1388039 2014-11-13 02:37:00 I dont think it makes a diff lol. Even if Magician wasnt installed, I dont think it'd make a diff. But I doubt the EVO would be the cause of this. Unless its ready to blow up or something Speedy Gonzales (78)
1388040 2014-11-15 18:45:00 Same drive here 256GB, has been set to Max performance since install and I haven't had any issues. No warnings either.

The system doesn't shutdown/startup "instantly" but it is a hell of lot faster than my previous spindle based hard disk.

1388041 2014-11-15 19:39:00 OK. Looks like this SSD doesn't quite like my hardware/software setup. :D

Anyway, will just leave it at Max Capacity setting.

1388042 2014-11-15 19:51:00 Is your disk running the latest firmware? I recall a recent update maybe about4-6 weeks ago for the EVO's, could be worth looking into that. chiefnz (545)
1388043 2014-11-15 20:24:00 Checked, it has the latest firmware. bk T (215)
