1387968 2014-11-11 18:10:00 I'm running W8.1 and have a Linksys AE580 dongle. My problem is that when I first turn on the PC, the dongle does not register with the system, it remains dormant no matter how long it is left. The message is that there is no Internet connection.

If I then restart the PC, the dongle fires up. Any ideas please?

1387969 2014-11-11 19:45:00 Its could be a driver problem.

Just had a look on Linksys Site - found support.linksys.com Second problem listed - Similar ( kind of) LINK (community.linksys.com).

Had a similar problem last week, persons wireless was working fine here & on return, a day later after Windows did some updates it stopped working, re-installed the original Drivers and its been working fine since :2cents:

Looking at the Driver download Page, they only show drivers upto W8 and before.

1387970 2014-11-11 20:09:00 Something else just came to mind -- When you finish for the day, do you turn the Computer off fully, or does it go into sleep mode ?

If it goes into sleep mode you may find its turning off the USB ports, and when waking up they don't turn back on. But a reboot does turn them on again (got a old laptop with W10 that has a blu-tooth adapter that does that) :2cents:

1387971 2014-11-11 21:03:00 Thanks WT. I do turn off fully at night. I have moved to another USB port and will see what it's like in the morning. Ta. Bryan (147)
