1374437 2014-05-08 03:16:00 Like to see it try to land back on the trailer. :D

Smart way to save the costs of trucking to the nearest waterway with launching facilities though!

Cheers

1374441 2014-05-08 09:59:00 Usually happens when an aircraft is converted from wheels to floats. This is done by taking off on a trailer with floats, because landing at the lake with wheels is just too hectic. ;)
At some stage the swap happens and most maintenance bases are on land airfields. After the float season is over, the float equipped plane lands on a grass runway which is not a dramatic business other than looking weird.

Yes, upstream on a river .

In fact taking off into the wind is not dissimilar, and there is a video out there somewhere of a light plane lifting off in a strong headwind and literally flying backwards (in relation to the ground) .

Actually, all conveyor belts are endless, and it is arguable that the surface of the earth bears a marked similarity to a conveyor belt, therefore if the proposition posited for the conveyor belt is transferred to a runway aligned with the equator, then the lunatic fringe would insist that this mythical plane would not be able to become airborne if attempting to take off in the direction opposing the planet's rotation .

But we won't go there .

A very good question!

I suppose that they would have backed the trailer into the water .

A bit of fun, but I'm not sure if there is a point . Was it done just so they could say that they did it?

They would lift the aircraft onto the trailer from a gantry in a building or a crane I guess the plane wont weigh much. I imagine the floats are for the North North American summer winter the lakes would be frozen.
