But now that you mention it, and just ruminating (having suspended all credence for a moment), then allowing that recycling of burial plots did occur, did anybody ever ask themselves why these exhumers might have been opening said coffins, in order to see scratch marks anyway? Did they just dig another hole and rebury, or pile them up and cremate them, in which instances, why open? Another thought that crosses my mind, and having seen too many good friends and relations lying in boxes, there isn't much wriggle room once the lid is on, so I doubt that anybody could get their hands up to scratch inside the lid anyway.
