1374695 2014-05-11 13:18:00 I have serious personal issues with it, mainly because of the culture surrounding it.
If it were legalised I imagine the retards at highschool would be less inclined to wander around screaming 420 swag tokin erry day if it were to become literally an every day sort of thing. Sure. You toke every day, so does everyone else?

Plus opportunities for the government, the fag companies could piss off and die (fat chance though, illuminati etc etc), and small legitimate startups could earn money.

Hell the only reason I even have an issue with it is because it's illegal. If they removed the laws and just shut up the people thinking it's a cool hop thing to do then I'd be completely fine with it -_-

1374696 2014-05-11 19:15:00 The stuff is bad for your health because of the THC which messes with the brain and smoking it causes lung cancer. I think the people smoking it are filth and once it was legalized the filth will move onto other drugs. If I was i/c this country anyone caught possessing it or smoking it would be executed. prefect (6291)
1374697 2014-05-11 19:54:00 it makes the best paper and biodegradable plastics.

prevents many disease.

the leaves and flowers can be juiced for some serious disease cures.

its not a drug, its a plant.

synthetics are drugs.

It's a plant that contains a drug, naturally occurring or manufactured a drug is still a drug. Many medicines are extracted from plants .

Hemp products such as rope and paper are made from a variety of the plant that has very low levels of THC and is not practical to get high from.
I'm not aware of it's disease preventative abilities , I know it's useful for treating some things but you need to have them first so that's not prevention. If this is true I'm sure the medical benefits are being considered somewhere.

1374698 2014-05-11 20:23:00 Yet we must have laws to prevent people from thinking it's OK to do things like rape, murder, stealing... Yeah it costs a lot to enforce those laws too, but would you rather being a thief was a genuine legal profession?

I note you have used “Thief” and “Legal Profession” in the same sentence Chill. ;)

1374699 2014-05-11 20:23:00 1] People would not resort to using synthetic Cannabis if the real stuff was available.
2] It is easy to grow locally and would save overseas funds.
3] People would not need to go to drug dealers to get it.
4] Cannabis has many medicinal uses, and in South America the oil is used for cooking with, aids the digestion.
5] Would save the Government millions of dollars in prescribed tranquillisers and pain killers for long term treatment.
6] Would save millions in Police action hunting down Cannabis growers and suppliers.
7] Customs duty would be levied on it, except where grown for private consumption, same as home-brew.
8] Probably less addictive than most synthetic tranquillisers and pain killers.

I know a few smokers of it. Long term.
It is more harmless than most other drugs including alcohol.
It does make them vacant though...I would still not allow it for certain occupations - while working.

It's bollocks that it cures everything and helps pain. That's an excuse the dopers have been using forever.

Friend tried it for her (severe_ pain management. She said it was bollocks. She said it sort of makes you not think about the pain, but it is still there. She didn't bother replacing her regular pain medication after a couple of tries of the stuff.

I do think it should be legal....if alcohol is, then this stuff causes far less social problems and far less medical ones too.

Oh Chill is allowed to do that we presume, among the "legal profession" it is only the aim to keep the "Thief" from being in a sentence ;)

1374701 2014-05-11 21:34:00 I cant actually think of one issue with pot that isnt related yo its legal status. Change that and 99% if issues go away. Education is the key. plod (107)
1374702 2014-05-11 22:21:00 weed feels way better than synthetics.

should be regulated like tobacco and alcohol.

decriminalization still results in a HEALTHY black market (which is not good thing)

having it becomes legal, while selling and buying are still crimes. who is this good for?

this post is wrong on every count.

weed prevents cancer. find TWO papers that prove otherwise.

yes, anyone who has an opposing view should be hung, drawn and quartered? AMRITE? no, definitely not.

teh way weed interfaces with the body suggests we are supposed to consume it
en.wikipedia.org

smoking weed led me to consume tobacco and alcohol and synthetics, all of which are or have been legal. if i could grow weed without the threat of government harrasment i would never turn to these lesser substances. weed is a tasty herb and i woudl like to use it as the spice it is like the indians do.

1374704 2014-05-11 23:09:00 Actually it's pretty spot on for the first count
www.brainfacts.org
edition.cnn.com
www.psychologytoday.com

There is no proof if it causes lung cancer but it has plenty of other health risks associated with it including an increased risk of heart attack by a factor of 4.8 in the first hour after use;
www.drugabuse.gov
www.mydr.com.au

And lets cut the BS, those that argue for the legalisation of cannabis may want to reduce the criminal activities associated with it in some cases but most people arguing all the "health benefits" etc are just using it as an excuse to make their drug of choice legal so they can get wasted legally.

If it has medical applications worth pursuing the drug companies will attempt refine it and make a pill that can administer a consistent controlled dose and all those arguing for legalization will have to find another excuse.
