| 1387972 | 2014-11-12 01:21:00 | Hi Team In theory I have WMSRT installed on this XP-Pro computer, and an update has supposedly been installed this very afternoon, but I can't find any sign of this program. I've looked in Add/Remove Programs, I've investigated Start-Up, I've trawled through a series of likely sounding locations, and I have invoked the Gods of Computing with mighty oaths, but I'm buggered if I can find it anywhere. This usually means it is sitting right under my nose, and in the most obvious location possible, but I give up! :waughh: Can some kind person point me at it please? Cheers Billy 8-{) :help: |

| 1387975 | 2014-11-12 01:52:00 | I've seen that update quite frequently and never thought much about it According to this en.wikipedia.org it's automatically distributed by windows update but it seems like it doesn't have a shortcut by default. From the article The program is usually updated on the second Tuesday of every month and distributed via Windows Update, at which point it runs once automatically in the background and reports if malicious software is found. Alternatively, users can manually download this tool from Microsoft Download Center.[3] It records its results in a log file located at %windir%\debug\mrt.log.[2] To run it manually at other times, users can start "mrt.exe" using Windows Command Prompt or Run command in the Start Menu |

| 1387977 | 2014-11-12 03:12:00 | Thanks WT I haven't used or needed it, but it has been nagging me that potentially I couldn't use it even if I wanted to. I'll set up a shortcut and maybe let it roll once in a while. Strange that Microsoft should keep it so quiet though, in fact it is so low-key that not even JK could crawl under it! Not that he hasn't had reason to in recent times, after he again put his mouth into gear when the ignition was switched off while talking about the absconding murderer. He suddenly found he only had a hand-brake, but that hand was busy pulling on something else. :stare: Cheers Billy 8-{) |
