1375632 2014-05-23 03:01:00 Does anyone know how Ebay shipping works? On the thing I want to buy (a chromebook), next to the shipping title it says '$39.05 (approx. NZD45.65) International Priority Shipping to New Zealand'

Does that mean that to get it right to my doorstep it would cost NZD$45.65 or are there other international import charges on top of that?

Cheers.

1375633 2014-05-23 03:13:00 Haven't had any extra charges levied on products of about that value, GST kicks in at $400 I think. Whenu (9358)
1375634 2014-05-23 03:18:00 It'll tell you how much it is if you buy it. Every time I've brought whatever from Ebay, it has always been that, and nothing else / extra. But all of them have been under $50NZ

I've brought a TPM module, netbook keyboard, Wireless and a module for the same netbook.

Havent had any extra charges on top of that. Only thing is if its global shipping, (I got the TPM module through it, it took 9 days to get here). And you wont know where it is when it leaves the US. If youre getting it from there. Until you get it

1375635 2014-05-23 03:24:00 General items or items within a few hundred dollars, the shipping price indicated on ebay would be the price you pay for it to get to your door.

High value items, say over $1000, will typically get held back at NZ Custom. When this happens, they will be in touch to advise of the additional fee you need to pay TO THEM, to clear it off their desks. How much this would be would depend on the item and the purchased value, thus it is often difficult to say how much exactly you will pay.

Though for a Chromebook, its unlikely there will be any additional fess via NZ Custom. However do note, the shipping price is an estimate, in terms of the currency exchange. If you pay via paypal, you will often see that the shipping fee to be slightly higher than what Ebay estimate, maybe additional $2-$5. I have found that Paypal typically have exchange rates in their favour and are slow in updating their rates.

1375636 2014-05-23 03:28:00 Sounds like you may be better setting up a US YouShop address and having eBay ship to that. I did this with a Nexus 7 and I thing the shipping was NZ$28. paulw (1826)

1375638 2014-05-26 03:52:00 ...... GST kicks in at $400 I think.

Sort of, but it depends. They can actually charge gst + processing charge at any value of goods .
Some goods still have tariffs, that adds an extra cost (so much for free trade)
If gst + their processing charge is less than NZ$60, they wont bother
Sometimes your stuff can sneek through anyway. (Ive actually got my fingers crossed on my latest purchase)

Get the info from there site, you can work out what it could cost you in gst + duties

1375640 2014-05-26 04:11:00 I ship Lipo's all the time but most of mine come from Hong Kong and China so its hard to say if they have the same restrictions.
Never had an issue thou. I don't know about YouShip specifically.

Yep so do I, thats how I know about lipo shipping issues.
Some online sellers ignore lipo shipping bans & run the risk of goods being rejected at the border . This is still happening now.
One major online seller of RC stuff supplier basicly had a months worth of goods stopped opened & inspected (& rejected) causing chaos for months.
Some asian online sellers now use 3rd world courier services, FijiPost, Malasiapost etc (with 3rd world service & delivery times) . These 3rd world couriers dont have a lipo shipping ban.
