373573 2005-07-19 17:29:00 Booting from CD-ROM simple right?
Changed the boot sequence in BIOS to boot from CD-ROM (1st device) but it always go through to windows. WHY??????
Have tried using the floppy and that works so i know the bios can be changed but why not boot from CD-ROM? The drive can be seen and accessed in win XP. Any ideas out there?

373574 2005-07-19 19:38:00 Are you at the machine while the boot is being attempted as normally with XP you get a prompt ti hit anykey if you want to boot from the CD.

I guess this is a windows get-around in case you leave a non-boot CD in the drive whic in a floppy's case would give an error boot

373575 2005-07-19 23:51:00 Yes am there watching it boot up and i know what you mean because it should come up with "Boot from CD-ROM-Press any key now" but that msg doesn't come up. WHY???????? cajetan (8513)
373576 2005-07-20 00:02:00 Whats the CD?? Is it the XP CD??

If it isnt bootable, then thats why it'll boot straight to Windows .

Since it cant find any info on the cd, relating to a bootable cd .

373577 2005-07-20 00:18:00 bootable XP works on my other machine just fine........ cajetan (8513)
373578 2005-07-20 02:15:00 Did the "bootable XP" come with the other machine? It could well be tied to the actual hardware of the other machine as an OEM version. ;) Graham L (2)
373579 2005-07-20 02:27:00 nope got it seperately but interesting idea though.......... weird huh? cajetan (8513)
373580 2005-07-20 06:29:00 You have got IDE enabled in the BIOS?
Then change first boot to CD.
Make sure CD is on master - both in the BIOS and on the jumper. Cables connected OK.
Then see if XP boots.
