373288 2005-07-18 21:01:00 I want to buy 1GB of DDR 400MHZ SDRAM stick for my mother board and leave the 2nd slot with 512MB of ddr 400mhz sdram totalling 1.5GB Ram.

My motherboard manual states it can support 400mhz and I believe im running 400mhz with 2x 512MB

At price spy www.pricespy.co.nz

I see as u scroll down it says 1GB DDRSDRAm at around $150NZ

Down the bottum it says

1GB of DDR2 SDRAm 240 pin 400mhz at $203

Which one do I buy?

NO.... you can only buy the DDR2 RAM IF your mobo supports it otherwise you will have to stick to DDR1 RAM.

What mobo and chipset do you have?

Generic RAM is ok and has improved over the years but personally I would rather buy a known BRAND NAME memory module such as Geil, Corsair or Kingston etc to name a few.

Whats dodgy about Supercheap PC? They have really good prices, and as far as i have heard, only good things have been said about them. I have bought RAM for my laptop, and also an ADSL router from them, and am quite happy with both

In fact apart from searching that thread, do a general Supercheap search on any NZ forum and you'll find all you need to know.

373296 2005-07-20 17:25:00 I wish I'd seen those reviews of Supercheap. I paid for a 1GB stick of DDR400 memory over a month ago and haven't got anything back. Can't get in touch with them by phone and they won't reply to emails. I haven't got the time to drive from Hamilton to Auckland to throttle one of the ba$!urds.
Stay clear!
