373590 2005-07-19 22:36:00 Anyone got any suggestions or know of any free/ shareware to try and recover data from a HDD that was reloaded in error.
Was Win 2000 and I believe load process that was used quick formats the HDD before reloading it . It is running Win 2000 again on new load.
I know the reload will have over written some data on the HDD but I am hoping some of the old data may be recovereable
Can you help?

373591 2005-07-19 23:42:00 Try PC Inspector File Recovery (www.pcinspector.de). Download it to a different PC or at least a different drive to that you want to recover from.

The less you access the drive, the greater your chances of recovery. Good luck.

373593 2005-07-22 11:40:00 You could try pressing Ctrl Z a few times to see if you can undo the format.

Otherwise search here somewhere for bootable disks with recovery tools, none come to mind at the moment, but someone here will know.

373594 2005-07-22 12:10:00 Don't think Ctrl-Z will do much, nivag's already reinstalled an operating system after the format. PaulD (232)
373595 2005-07-22 14:30:00 How'd you get on nivag, get em back or toast? Murray P (44)
373596 2005-07-22 22:29:00 If you've already installed the OS, you might have little luck. At best, stop using that PC altogether in case you start writing over more of the files! Chilling_Silence (9)
