374211 2005-07-22 02:25:00 Is there any real difference between cards useing the same chipset (or whatever). That is , is there any real diff between say an asus radeon 9800 and a gibabyte radeon 9800 and an xxx radeon 9800. You get the idea. If they are all the same ,why the variations in price. Why isn't everyone useing the cheapest? JJJJJ (528)
374212 2005-07-22 02:38:00 Some us different RAM, some are just better quality, some come with different programs.

Some people like Honda some like Mazda but Daewoo is cheeper

374217 2005-07-22 11:51:00 I read that Sparkle cards are pretty good quality, but don't come with a software bundle, so are a fair bit cheaper.

Wether that is true, I do not know.

374218 2005-07-22 12:21:00 I have a Sparkle brand video card, purely because they were first to market, In one shootout I read they were given a better build quality then all the big brand cards, though I would imagine the faults on teh others (mainly the fan mount being very poor) was soon rectifed.(this relates to the 6600gt btw)

And while it has been a solid performer, stable and benching very nicely it wouldn't be my first choice.

Probally just because of the name though, Just before I bought it I did tell one of the other regulers here that purchasing a Sparkle card was the first step towards growing a freddie moustache and hanging out in all-male bathhouses.....
