| 374154 | 2005-07-21 22:47:00 | I am wanting to do a clean install of Windows XP so that I can get rid of all the spyware, etc. and other junk I have in there. All the important stuff I want to keep have been backed up. I've been used to using the Win98 bootdisk to do my format requirements, but have now discovered it only works for FAT or FAT32 file systems. I have the NTFS file system so DOS cannot recognise my drive. What other methods are there? |

| 374156 | 2005-07-21 23:01:00 | use the XP disk to boot, partition and format. Yes, but for some reason my bootdisk is 'corrupted' I believe. I have changed discs but it keeps failing to find a file on Disc 2. I'm installing on my exisiting D: partition now. So what I'm hoping to do is once that's done, I will format the C: and then the D: which hopefully should get me what I had originally wanted of having clean WinXP install on C:. Very confusing though.. any better ways? |

| 374160 | 2005-07-22 05:06:00 | I've just borrowed a friends disc and simply used my code and it works . So now I have two problem: 1) How do I check whether I have USB 2 . 0 or not? Normally I have to install the drivers off the motherboard drivers disc, but it won't let me . It does not say I've got it already either! 2) When I go Start and Turn off Computer . . . it does not let me choose the Standby option . It is shaded out . This happened with my last installation with my own disc but I can't remember how I fixed it . My motherboard is P5GD1-VM |
