| 374062 | 2005-07-21 07:07:00 | I have just had to use my recovery CD to reghost Win XP Prof on my Toshiba Laptop and, of course, I now have a new, clean (read empty) OE email. Can anyone advise me where the files are stored that contain all the inbox, sent emails etc as well as the addresses file. Fortunately I had 3 partitions so all my data is intact, but I want to access my recent emails. Fortunately, I had backed up all drive C folders yesterday, so hopefully can copy or import my email files. Thanks for any help. | Reo28 (8570) | ||
| 374063 | 2005-07-21 23:34:00 | OE stores is data in .dbx files. Search for *.dbx and it will show you the location of all dbx files. You should see the new ones and be able to find the old ones in the back up loaction drive. You can change the store folder loaction that OE stores these files in to point to the old location (or copy it to another loaction of your choice eg d:email storage). Just carefully read the warning it gives when it finds a new dbx file set in the new store location. It is easy to pick the wrong option and lose your emails! A careful read makes it clear but easy to skim read and select wrong one!! Change the store folder location in OE at TOOLS>OPTIONS>MAINTANCE Store folder. TIP: make the new folder BEFORE going into OE (if making a new store location) so it is visable when you browse for the new location (no makes new folder option). |
