2005-07-22 05:37:00 | Yup if the USB ports are 1 . 1 now, they wont change to USB 2 when u install SP1 or 2 . If u see something like USB 2 Enhanced controller, in device manager, this means u have USB2 . Also dont forget to install the ide inf file if u have the mobo cd . If the USB controller has a ? beside it, in device manager, delete it (after installing SP1 or 2) . That should fix it .

2005-07-22 06:21:00 | Not exactly. I have SP2 on my Familys PC and it has USB1.1 To check go in to your Device Manager and have a look. If it says EHCD you should have USB2.0 Well I got one of the USB2 Enhanced Controllers, but 4 USB Universal Host Controller. So I do have USB2...? Thanks everyone!

2005-07-22 13:38:00 | It'll only popup and alert you if you have a USB2.0 USB Device and a USB1.x Controller. Otherwise, windows doesnt make a peep. Yes, I would assume you do have USB2.0 in this instance. Bear in mind Im going 100% from memory here, i dont have easy access to a Windows box right about now.... But Im pretty certain thats the name of the USB2.0 Hub :)

2005-07-23 03:58:00 | Thanks heaps guys, help much appreciated. All my problems have been sorted. Except one When I go to 'Turn of my computer' , then Standby will not work. The icon is shaded out. Or greyed out if you like. Googling gives me a heck a lot of cases like this, but none of the suggestions I'm looking at work for me. Any ideas?

2005-07-23 04:00:00 | Install the videocard drivers. See if that fixes it. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2005-07-23 04:09:00 | Have you installed your motherboard drivers as well? | Jen (38) | |
2005-07-23 04:27:00 | I have installed all the drivers I can find on the motherboard. But... to Speedy, suprisingly, Device Manager tells me that the drivers for the Video Controller and Video Controller (VGA Compatible) are not installed! Where can I find drivers for this. I am just using onboard video, but I have installed the drivers on my motherboard CD...

2005-07-23 04:32:00 | XP will put that VGA adapter entry in device manager . If u havent got the drivers for the videocard . So, u can actually see something on the screen . Thats why u have no standby option, and most probably cant change the amount of colours on the screen . You'll have to find out what brand/model the onboard videocard is . If u have the motherboard cd, the drivers for it should be on that . If that VGA adapter shows ? Find the drivers off the cd, install them, then reboot . Thats a 64 bit ASUS mobo ?? If it is go here . asus . com/download/download . aspx?SLanguage=en-us" target="_blank">support . asus . com Type P5GD1-VM under search (it takes a while for it to stick)! Then select all under it . And click on Search info .

2005-07-23 04:42:00 | Thanks I will try and install what I believe could be the video driver after I finished my updates. My mobo manual says it is a "Intergrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900". The driver on my CD Rom is "Intels Graphics Acceleration Driver". I have, as I said, already installed it yesterday but it might not have 'gone through'. I'll redo it and let you know later. Thanks
