375099 2005-07-25 04:22:00 Sometime in the future i will be rebuilding quite a lot of PCs with XP... i got XP with SP1 disk so will have LOADS to update with critical updates and possibly SP2 also.

Where can i get all the updates up to now without having to run windows update on every machine i do.. i can find SP2 but want the exes for all the other updates too.

thanks in advance

375100 2005-07-25 04:27:00 Get an XP CD with SP2.

Just slipstream it into the reguler XP cd if you have to, Its far better then installing XP and then upgrading to SP2.

Do all these machines have XP keys?

375101 2005-07-25 04:30:00 I would go to windowsupdates, do a scan and note the Q #'s to the updates.

There's been a lot of updates, since SP2.

Then go to the MS site, and search for each one, then download them.

And keep them on the hdd or cd somewhere.

the ones that are built with XP will have a COA yes. And how do i go about getting an XP CD with SP2 without having to pay extra for it.. as having a legit copy already, paying for another seems silly

375104 2005-07-25 04:37:00 Make an ISO of the XP CD
Download SP2.
Install slipstreaming software, point it at both files, This will spit out a fresh ISO ready to be burned to CD that will contain SP2.

Name of teh software escapes me, but later on i will find it and post its name, Its simple as 1+1=iso to use.

As for getting the updates,MS change the system around so often I gave up, But keep in mind that different machines will have different updates offered depending on hardware and software installed.

375105 2005-07-25 04:39:00 grab a copy of Nlite from http://www.nliteos.com/
Its primary use was to remove components from window 2k/xp but it can also integrate all those KBxxxxxxxx updates from the windows update site without touching anything, into a new up to date CD. See Here (www.nliteos.com)
You have to download all them updates first though.

375106 2005-07-25 04:41:00 I've done exactly as Speedy suggests, but for win2k. I also have it on CD, which I'll update as nore patches come out.

MS has recently brought out a Hotfix Rollup for win 2k which is supposedly all the critical fixes since win2k SP 4. It does not contain nearly enough fixes IMO.

375107 2005-07-25 04:41:00 You can slipstream SP2 with XP .

Google Slipstream SP2 . It'll tell u how .

I have the files here, but not only the XP updates . About 280 mb of updates lol for Framework, office, XP, and 2k .

A few files to list :D
