375021 2005-07-25 01:17:00 Any computer shop should stock them.

Where in NZ are you? Try a search in http://www.google.co.nz

This will be the easiest way to find a shop, which maybe closer to you.

Here's a few in Auckland, just down the road from me.

375023 2005-07-25 03:48:00 The external enclosures are available in NZ. There's lot of shops that sell them. Speedy Gonzales (78)
375024 2005-07-25 04:16:00 The keyword being Serial-ATA, I haven't seen such a device on any pricelist as yet,and any benifit of it is non-existent.

Stick to a reguler ATA (also known as IDE drive) and use an enclosure with firewire.

375025 2005-07-25 05:55:00 There are enclosures that accept sATA drives.

There are also external PCI connectors so you can connect an external sATA drive in to the PC using an sATA cable.

No mention of Sata support, though it can't be far away and niche importers may have them available.

That said there is still no reason to buy one unless the person has already bought a S-ATA harddrive, The transfer speed will be relient on the connection to the computer(USB,Firewire) not on how the drive is plugged into the enclosure.

375028 2005-07-25 09:59:00 Hi,
The particular HD Enclosure I am look for is a Sata Drive Enclosure with output Sata & USB connection
My PC motherboard have extra sata connection header. and I can connect to it, with an 1 port external Sata PCI Bracket.
If I can get one of this kind (sata drive enclosure with output Sata & USB) which is quite handy, which will be able to use on any computer with either one of connection. Beside I have a spare sata drive on hand.
So can anyone help me.
Thank you.

375029 2005-07-25 10:30:00 I didnt even know there was such a thng as an external Sata connection, . . . .

Is the above described unit no good for your needs? (ME-740S), Your computer shop of choice should be able to source it, though the importer has a habit of listing stock "in transit" from Australia .
