374976 2005-07-24 23:50:00 I have been noticing this string in visitor logs on a site I am developing

Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; FunWebProducts; .NET CLR 1.0.3705

now the site is not open to the general public, just myself and the client have access, I use firefox principally as well as opera, IE and Kmeleon, i run win2k the client I believe runs XP and uses only IE

apparently this FunWebProfucts has something to do with the "MY WEB SEARCH™ BROWSER PLUGIN" for IE, but the user agent is mozilla/4 and i have the latest firefox, kmeleon.opera and IE, and the only plugins apart from Java and flash on all of them are google toolbar and webdeveloper on firefox
i know it's not me as it doesn't show in the logs of other sites i am developing

Actually basically I'll stop rambling and cut to the chase

What actually is it, (in simple easy to understand terms)
is it harmful, as some people seem to like crappy search plugins and emotican/smiley thingies which I would assume would come with a plugin of this sort

And why is the User agent listed as Mozilla, if it's an IE plugin?

Thanks

374977 2005-07-25 00:15:00 it won't hurt the server side of things. all it means is the people veiwing your web page are or have been infected with funweb. most commonly spyware tho i think a few antispyware are now classing them as legit. i think you are right, its some emotican/smiley thingies crap that people go googaa over.

you could simply make a script to ID anyone with it and send them a web page telling them to remove it ;)
