| 374939 | 2005-07-24 22:48:00 | I'm choosing a laptop for my parents that is going to replace their old desktop PC. They just do email, internet, and a bit of Office (Word, excell) I'm looking at the Dell above (1.5 GHz Pentium M Processor, 2MB cache, 400Mhz FSB, whatever that means) vs a Packard Bell (www.noelleeming.co.nz) that has an Athlon 2400+ processor Which do you think is faster? I've heard the Athlon 2400 is about the same as a 2 Ghz P4, so my guess is the Athlon would be faster. Also if you know of any better alternatives for the same price (1.3K) I'd be interested to know. Thanks |

As for which will be better performance wise, They would both do the job easily but the Centrino will be lighter, run cooler and run longer. Either way, with XP bloating out of control I would suggest you get 512mb ram. (and the Athlon 2400 was directly comparable with a p4 2.4, faster in some instances, however desktop performance doesn't translate into laptop performance) |
